In this review, I’m taking a closer look at both versions of the Pelikan M815 Metal Striped — the 2018 Special Editionin black and the newer blue edition.
The M815 is a fascinating blend of tradition and modernity: classic Souverän design language meets contemporary materials. Its signature striped barrel is reinterpreted in brass and palladium, giving the pen a subtle weight and a refined, almost architectural presence. Each stripe is precisely inlaid into high-grade resin, creating a beautiful contrast of light and texture.
With its differential piston filling system, rhodium-plated trim, and 18k gold nib, the M815 carries all the hallmarks of Pelikan craftsmanship — a perfect example of how the brand continues to evolve while staying true to its heritage.
Before we hop into the review, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Appelboompennen for supporting the review of this pen. You can also buy the M815 in their webshop (no affiliate – just a friendly pointer).
