The Expansi-Pouch Leather Wide 10-Slot Pen Case by Galen Leather sits somewhere between a generously sized pen case and a compact A6 zip folio. Handmade in Turkey from vegetable-tanned full-grain leather, it offers considerably more flexibility than a conventional case built around a fixed row of pen loops.
At its heart are ten elastic loops for pens. The interior is modular: the pen holder is magnetically attached and can be removed, while a separate divider flap helps keep the contents apart. That makes it possible to adapt the pouch for different combinations of pens, an A6 notebook and other small stationery essentials.
The version reviewed here comes in Crazy Horse Brown, a distressed finish with shades ranging from tan and mocha to darker hickory brown. The leather is intended to soften and develop character comparatively quickly, giving the pouch the familiar lived-in appearance associated with Galen Leather’s products.
