Video Review: Graf von Faber-Castell “Perfect Pencil”

There is a lot of stationery products out there. Some of them are okay’ish. Many of them are truly great and beautiful. A few of them are iconic.

As I write this, I am thinking: maybe I should, at some point, make a video/post of what I consider truly iconic stationery items? Off the top of my head, without thinking to deeply about it, I would say for sure the Lamy Safari, the Lamy 2000, the Montblanc 149 & 146, the Parker 51, Kaweco Sport, Pelikan Souverän, Pilot Capless, the Caran d’Ache 849 ballpoint pen – and of course I have now surely forgotten quite a few (fountain/ballpoint) pens, maybe even sharpeners/erasers, and pencils.

So maybe yes, this warrants some research, packed into a separate post. If you are reading this, please help me with your comments to generate a list: what do you think are the most iconic stationery objects?

While I was at the pencils before: one ‘pencil object’ that I for sure would count into the category of ‘iconic stationery’ objects is the definite (and maybe still only) all in one solution for writing, correcting, and sharpening: the Graf von Faber-Castell “Perfect Pencil”. It’s fluted barrel and knurled-crown-cap pencil extender are unmistakably iconic, truly one of a kind.

Before we hop into the review, I would like to take the opportunity to thank La Couronne du Comte in the Netherlands for supporting this video overview. You can also buy the Perfect Pencil at their webshop (no affiliate-link, just a friendly pointer).

But now, check out the video-overview below, which is as always preceded by some quick facts. Again, I hope the review is helpful and that you enjoy watching it!

As for iconic products how about the Pentel 20x line of mechanical pencils, the Bic crystal ballpoint and the Rotring 600 mechanical pencil?

Wonderful! Love those suggestions. Thank you!
