Platinum, beside Sailor and Pilot, is one of the “big three” Japanese fountain pen manufacturers and said to produce some of the finest writing instruments out there. One of them being their famous Century 3776-series, which in my honest opinion and after about three months of testing, really is one of the best pens out there (considering its price, too). Needless to say that I had to get one of them to try out. Hence, I am ever thankful to John of Luxury Brands of America who has shipped a Nice Pur over to me for review purposes.

Great review. Thank you. I wonder how you would compare this Platinum 3776 to your Pelikan M805 and/or Pelikan M1000. I have a Pelikan M1000, and feel quite spoiled by it, but I am intrigued by the Platinum 3776. Many thanks.
Thank you for your feedback! Your question is a good one. Honestly, it is difficult to say, because those pens are so different. The Pelikans are much larger, as the 3776 is a rather average sized pen. So it is a different pen-class I would say. Also, the Pelikans are piston fillers. Anyway, I do not think that the Pelikans are ‘better’ pens than the 3776 – ‘better’ is relative anyway. I find the 3776 an amazing pen in its own right, the nibs are really good and smooth and the pen certainly does not have to hide from the Pelikans. I can really recommend the Platinum 3776! I do not think that you will be disappointed.
Platinum 3776 has a thinner more feedbacky pencil like feeling . While pelikans are feather smooth and wet , and their extra fine is like japanese medium .
