Video-Review: Makers Cabinet Stria

Makers Cabinet surely does produce some very unique stationery items. You may even say that the artefacts that they produce are somewhat polarising. Why? Because, in essence, they truly set apart certain mindsets on how to approach stationery.

One way to approach stationery is: will it get the job done at the best possible cost-benefit-ratio. And on that one, yes, the couple-of-cents ballpoint pen, eraser, ruler, or paper, will absolutely get the job done. But maybe not very joyfully, and maybe also not very sustainably.

Another way to approach stationery is just that: an experience and sustainability perspective. And I would say that the Makers Cabinet products mostly range on the extreme end of that scale.

Take the Hovel that I have reviewed, for instance. A pencil plane, rather expensive, and will last for a lifetime. But sure, a couple-of-cents plastic sharpener will also get your pencil pointy at a much lower price. But also: no, the experience of that one won’t be very special and you will certainly not hand that couple-of-cents plastic sharpener down to your children to, in turn, hand it down to their children.

The Stria folding ruler that I review right here belongs to just that category. It is a rather pricey product. But you certainly won’t have to replace this anytime soon. It will accompany you on your full journey. And it will bear the scratches and scuffs of experience. And just be that one, really different, stationery item.

Before we hop into the review, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Makers Cabinet for supporting the review of this stationery item. You can also buy the Stria in their webshop (no affiliate – just a friendly pointer).

Check out the video-review below, which is as always preceded by some quick facts. Again, I hope the review is helpful and that you enjoy watching it!
