Pelikan is famous for never failing to surprise the fountain pen community with fantastic limited or special edition pens. The M101N “Bright Red” is the latest – and again probably rather successful – attempt on that. Building on an iconic 1930s design that is steeped in pen-history, the “Bright Red” continues the re-make of a vintage classic that Pelikan had already started a couple of years ago with the M101N Lizard, Tortoiseshell-Red, and Tortoishell-Brown.
So let’s see what the latest release of a modern incarnation of this vintage classic can do. As with many of Pelikans limited or special editions, I expect the stock to sell off rather quickly – and later on go for preloved-pen-prices of about an arm and a leg. This particular pen already doesn’t come as an impulse buy, as it weighs in at around 450 €, speaking most likely rather to a connoisseur kind of few.
Now on to the video-review below, which is, as always, preceded by some quick facts. Again, I hope the review is helpful and that you enjoy watching it!
